An Innovative Superconducting Magnetic Trap for Probing β-decay in Plasmas

The main aim of Plasmas for Astrophysics Nuclear Decays Observation and Radiation Archaeometry (PANDORA) project is to build a compact flexible magnetic plasma trap where reaches density n e ∼ 10 11 –10 13 cm −3 , temperature, in units kT 0.1–30 keV order measure, the first time, nuclear β -decay rates stellar-like conditions. One most important aspects an ECR Ion Source (ECRIS) its system. In this paper, numerical design PANDORA system presented validated by using commercial simulators OPERA CST Studio Suite, showing excellent agreement between each other terms axial radial field profiles. conjunction design, overall injection system, including microwave lines heating isotopes schemes with focus on developments oven solid elements, has been conceived will be discussed.
